- uses their name as domain.
- uses meaningless words/phrases as domain.
- selecting a domain without searching for relevant keywords.
- uses dash (-) in their domain.
- uses long terms and keywords which are tough to remember.
I have used dash(-) in my blog address myself i.e.,
http://my-blogging-journey-step-by-step.blogspot.com/
Next time i will be careful myself because i think domain names with dashes do not get a very high page ranking in search engines.
Update on 6th of July 2010:
I have found out that URL's which have slash (/) in their domain names are readily rejected by Google AdSense. Do you remember my blog post in which I mentioned that AdSense rejected by application. Google AdSense send me an email which said
Your website must be your own top-level domain (www.example.com and not www.example.com/mysite).
